Dad passed away a couple of years ago. It's OK everyone - I'm over it....

I recently had the opportunity/obligation to go through all his stuff in the garage. I filled a 20 yard dumpster (another story). One of the things I came across was his stash of gay (ahem) literature. Makes one wonder....

Just goes to show you how well people can hide and keep things inside, only for themselves to know. It of-course shouldn't be that way but unfortunately in this day and time it is. Maybe it was nothing, but maybe it wasn't. It does make you wonder though! :rolleyes:

That could be worth some money or you could read it and laugh at it since it's so old. If you've ever seen gay porn/erotica from the 50s-70s it's seriously hilarious since it's so dated.

The real truth about some of these early missives was that the ones done
about Dagwood & Blondie and Felix the Cat and others were done by the actual comic artists themselves to make additional money. The early days of cartooning was not that lucrative.

Thanks for bringing those up. Brings back some really fond memories.

Too bad ya got rid of that stuff--whatever it was--ya should have sold it on E-Bay or found a GLBT organization to donate it too--or they would have known of a collector to have sold or given it too---

When my friends father died her step mother took her to his closet and gave her a bunch of his clothes. That's how she learned her father's secret of being a cross dresser. It's too bad you couldn't have known your dad's other side, if he indeed had one. I know it was sad for my friend because she would have enjoyed knowing that part of her dad.

Parents tend to leave a lot of mystery behind when they pass....sometimes we find out about it and other times we're oblivious that it even existed.

This wasn't art or antique stuff. It was mid '90s pulp mags with not very many pictures. Not really worth keeping or trying to sell.

It was just interesting to find it under the circumstances and I wonder how many others had been in the same position. I'm betting if there are it's more likely that people found their dad's stuff than their mom's

If someone should come by this sort of material again and don't quite know what to do with it. The University of Louisville library has a fairly large collection of GLBT literature. You could try to donate it there.

Boy was that a surprise. I guess I never thought of them as sexual beings!!!

I too, as a youngen, found my father's Playboy stash.

My parents having sex? No way! Never happened! I came into this world by immaculate conception. ;)
