I'd like to see sub-forums here. Forums such as humor (or fun & games), news (for recent news articles of interest to LGBT), polls would be cool.

You may desire reading a few things:

General Forum Usage explains how to create polls.
Recent additions to this newly revised site also include
groups and individual blogs. Hopefully, my response has
been adequately clear and informative.

The topic of sub-forums comes up occasionally. My concern is a lack of activity. I think a (sub-)forum that doesn't get several posts a day, and at least one new thread a day is too quiet.
The other consideration is the number of clicks from the homepage to a thread. I think it should not be too many. On the old site it was Homepage > Main Forum > A Thread (2 clicks). On this new site it was 3 clicks (Homepage > Forum Directory > Main Forum > A Thread) until a few days ago when I changed it to be like the old site (except for the Site Feedback sub-forum which is an additional click). If we have more than 1 or 2 sub-forums I will need to bring back the Forum Directory page and the additional click.
So I'll think about it, but I am concerned it would not work on our site very well, unless traffic really increases (maybe double current - so twice as many new threads and posts as now).
